Carpet Roll Racks and Pallet Racking in Dalton, GA
Dalton is the center of the U.S. floor-covering industry. Rolls of carpet, rug stock and long goods do not sit well on standard beams, and hard-surface flooring pallets are heavier than most people expect.
So a Dalton rack plan usually splits in two: roll and cantilever rack for the long product, and stout selective pallet rack for boxed flooring.
Storing Rolls Without Crushing Them
Carpet rolls need support along their length. Cantilever arms spaced to the roll length, or dedicated roll racking with pipe or decking, keep the core from sagging.
We ask for roll diameter, length and weight first. Then we choose arm length, arm spacing and how many levels the truck can safely place.
Most flooring operations use a carpet pole or boom attachment. That attachment changes how much aisle you need, so we design around it, not around a standard fork truck.

GreenPoint and Carbondale: Big New Buildings
GreenPoint Park covers 154 acres across five buildings, and its newest buildings offer 36 ft clear. Carbondale Business Park sits on I-75 at Exit 326, with frontage on Carbondale Road and US-41.
In a 36 ft building, LVP and laminate pallets can go six or more levels high on heavy beams. Those pallets are dense, so beam capacity is the first number we check.
Large flooring DCs with fast-turning SKUs sometimes add pallet flow rack near the docks so pickers work one face while restocking happens behind.
Working Inside Old Mill and Warehouse Stock
Plenty of Dalton product still lives in older mill buildings. Clear heights are lower, column grids are tight, and some floors were laid out for machinery, not storage.
Here the plan starts with a column survey. We set bay widths to fall between columns and pick rack heights that respect the lowest obstruction.
Freight In and Out of Dalton
Dalton has dedicated flooring freight terminals, and the Appalachian Regional Port sits roughly 20 to 24 miles away. That CSX inland terminal links directly to the Port of Savannah, 388 miles by rail.
Import goods staged after a rail move often arrive in bulk. A block of drive-in rack handles deep runs of one item better than long selective rows.
Laying Out a Mixed Flooring Building
Most Dalton buildings carry rolls and pallets together. We zone roll storage along one wall, near the doors used by carpet-pole trucks, and run selective rows through the rest.
Aisles differ between zones. Roll aisles must clear the pole length plus turning room; pallet aisles follow your reach or counterbalance trucks.
Cross aisles tie the zones together so a mixed order can be picked in one loop.
Getting a Dalton Layout Moving
Roll diameter, roll length, pallet weights and your truck attachments are what we need first. A sketch of the building with column lines helps more than a perfect drawing.
